Women for Global Achievement
Community Programs Inspiring Women to Lead
What Is Women for Global Achievement?
WGA is neither an association nor an event. Women for Global Achievement is a universal program setup to identify and recognize the achievements of women in a number of professions and business careers.
Why Is It Important?
Women for Global Achievement serves women because they don’t always serve themselves. The program benefits more women who deserve recognition and spotlights talent in many of our communities. The program builds meaningful relationships and in the process inspires many other women to lead.
What’s The Focus?
The focus of WGA is on building productive relationships which come from meaningful exchanges between members of women’s clubs on college campuses and adult women who are working in various professions and careers. Unlike other programs which serve the university, there is never any mention made of fundraising, scholarships nor jobs. Relationships may naturally evolve into these areas due to participants. However, the main purpose is to help women who deserve to be recognized for the work they do.
How Does It Work?
WGA will operate in conjunction with local women’s clubs in colleges, universities and business schools throughout the U.S. who will implement and sponsor the program on their respective campuses. Achievements in healthcare, business, technology, fashion, design, education, entrepreneurship, the arts, volunteer/nonprofit are some of the areas where women will be recognized.
Using achievement as the guiding criteria, members of women’s clubs on college campuses evaluate professional women in their communities and qualify those who deserve recognition. Women’s clubs serve to sponsor these professional women in their respective communities. Once a professional woman has been qualified and submitted by the club, the entrant will be reviewed by WGA for final approval. If confirmed, they will receive official WGA recognition by Women.MBA. Official recipients of Women for Global Achievement will be announced by the participating club/school.
WGA benefits the careers of those women who receive official recognition and the designation also help the businesses they work for. A reciprocal commitment is felt after an honoree is recognized, which is to give back to the larger community of women and help other women in direct, relevant ways. This allows the program, its sponsors and all participants to build a ‘shared community’ around recognition that gives to and receives back from women.
Further Details of Program
In order to avoid a popularity contest, no unsolicited nominations will be accepted. Every entrant will be researched by members in the aforementioned women’s clubs on college campuses and all entries must come from one, or more, of its board members. Research is conducted according to the categories outlined above. Each club decides what constitutes value and will submit entrants who deserve consideration of WGA recognition based upon values and requirements.
The following 3 requirements must be satisfied by women’s clubs on college campuses for any woman chosen to become a candidate for consideration:
1 – A brief explanation of why the entrant is worthy of recognition needs to be included with each submission.
2 – A short, complete bio or documentary story of the entrant will also need to be submitted.
3 – The category of entrant and documentation showing how a consensus decision was reached on all candidates is required.
Consensus decisions through recommendations are preferred and strongly encouraged. Recommendations can come from – but are not limited to – peers, colleagues, managers, co-workers, suppliers, subordinates, articles/posts, recommendations, referrals, etc. and agreement should exist that the person being considered deserves to be recognized by WGA.
The program will go into effect on women.mba and all school-sanctioned women’s clubs on college campuses are welcome to participate.
