There are thousands of women working successfully in business careers today. You can always find hard-working women, but not always women vested in their business careers. Women MBA will focus on business careers for women in the following areas who, we believe, can benefit the most from obtaining a graduate business degree.
S&P 500 Companies
While women managers work and play an important role in S&P 500 companies, they are under represented. According to Catalyst, only 36% women in the S&P 500 workforce are employed in first-and-mid-level management positions. Promotions are also not proportional, as the field of women narrows down to 1 in 4 top managers working at S&P 500 firms.
As mentioned, our focus is on women in business careers that can benefit the most from adding an MBA or MS degree. And, the best opportunities for Women MBAs in S&P 500 companies are the businesses who share a kinship with women or at least offer them fair share opportunities. This means companies who employ a larger percentage of women managers, boards members and CEOs.
Small-to-Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
More opportunities for women exist in small-to-mid-sized companies who are generally more favorable and friendly toward women and families. This is especially true in Family-Owned Businesses where the prevalence of women in carries through the entire organization. In FOBs, nearly 60 percent (57.2 percent) of all firms have women in top management team positions.
Associations of Women in Business
Many women who manage, work for, own, buy/start a business are involved in an association. Associations such as the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) offer networking opportunities and their members are interested in developing their careers.
